10 basic clothing items you should have in your closet.
Before you can be a "trendy" fashionista, you must have a buildable basic wardrobe. A wardrobe that you can mix and match for any occasion and be considered fashionable.
Beginning with the casual basics, the jeans.
Personally, if you can afford to have more than one pair of jeans, I'd say get a total of five.
Most will argue that you only need two to begin the basic casual wardrobe. But, I think that have different shades of blue, not only allows for more options, but sometimes the basic light jean isn't as office casual as the black and dark blue jean. Personally, the light blue is more of a shopping or casual clubbing affair. Because you are fashion forward people, you already know that you can pair white jeans with any shirt or blouse on the spectrum for a fresh, cool summer look. Well, what about neutral? Come on now, you know that is a basic color that again, matches with anything. Options, people options.
Next up, the White T-Shirt and the Black T-Shirt.
Using the photos of jeans above as a guideline, you can match both colors with either of the jeans for any casual affair. Wear either t-shirt with each pair of jeans for ultra casual look or add a blazer or jacket, belt, high heels and accessories and you are ready to paint the town.
Got a long oversized white cotton shirt? Well, you need one in your life. Depending on the length, you can wear alone as a dress or over your best pair of fitted jeans or black pants (we'll get to the black pants in a minute).
Earlier I wrote that your jeans paired with a t-shirt and a blazer can make any occasion special. So that is why the next item on my list are blazers. Blazers are here to stay-- Yay! Dress them up with heels, dress or skirt and blouse for your office attire. Not your cup of tea? Dress it down with jeans and a t-shirt and sneakers.
Broom! Broom! Errrrrrrrrrrr! Yep! You guessed it. Motorcycle jacket. Better know as the "Moto" jacket. Everyone needs one. Who doesn't want to look cool? For the tough, casual fiend, you must
have the moto. Preferably, in black, white or tan and oh the silver is hot too!
Tailored pants and pencil skirts are a must for office attire. If funds are limited, might I suggest to purchase in black and/or white, but if you can both are ideal.
The tailored pants and skirts can't complete the workplace attire without a good pair of mid to high heels. If you have a pair of patent leather heels, you are ahead of the rest of the fashion heads. You can pair it with any of the outfits to wow the crowd.
You know that you can't wear heels all day long right? This is when you have to get you a decent pair of flats. Any color will suffice. But I would say get a neutral or nude. It matches any attire well. When you switch your heels to flats you will still look fab!
For the extreme casual chica like me, you love sneakers! Who doesn't love comfort? All you need is that great pair of sneakers to get you going.
Now, remember, these are just the basics. You can build your basics by adding other items such as "trendy" fashions. But, honey you are all good to go without the extras for now.
